My father grew up dirt poor during the "Great Depression." He spent his early childhood in and out of orphanges because my grandmorther couldn't feed him and his 2 brothers and sisters. He was also a WW2 combat veteran (South Pacific Theater) - the 2nd "Great war." He always would say there "wasn't nothing great about any of those damn things." People who said "great" about them used to piss him off. He said they were either never there or completely insane. Nice piece. Thank you for writing it. I enjoy reading your work. Take care!
